Jialingjiang River is the largest offshoot of Yangtze River with great volume and water quality. 229 kilometers of the river flows through Nanchong, with an average flow volume of 878.7 cubic meters per second over the years and minimum 115 cubic meters per second on monthly basis, and water quality on par to the Grade-2 Standard stipulated in Environmental Quality Standard for Surface Water （GB3838-2002）. Major industrial programs could utilize the water directly from Jialingjiang River, and companies could discharge waste water directly to the city sewage pipe network provided the waste water is within permit of environmental capacity. The urban air quality is maintained at Grade-2 Standard of Environmental Quality Standard for Surface Water （GB3838-2002）too at a ratio of 94%, with an adequate surplus of COD and SO2, thus marked advantages in environmental capacity.
Annually, the city of Nanchong rolls out 7.18 million pigs, 2.47 million lambs, 13.64 million rabbits, 210,000 tons of eggs, 34,000 tons of milk, 390,000 tons of sweet potato, 610,000 tons of corn, 73,000 tons of soy, 340,000 tons of edible oil, 2.79 million tons of vegetables, 570,000 tons of fruits, 16,000 tons of silk cocoons, and 250,000 tons of bamboo lumber. Strong production and processing capabilities have been established to make the city a national key producer of grains, pork, silk and fruits.
